Gardening on the Mind (Finally)

January 16, 2012

Are you serious?

It’s January 16, 2012.  Mid-January.  We don’t even have snow on the ground right now.

I’m loving this winter, but the warm, dry weather has me all sorts of unorganized.  Usually it’s so stinkin’ cold, icy or snowy outside that I hibernate in the house and get all pumped up about planning the garden before the New Year hits.  Lists, bookmarks, even spreadsheets are being created way before now.

This past weekend I flipped through a few catalogs.

I’ll be honest it mostly made me hungry.  Nothing beats a garden tomato.

But it did get the garden brain turning a little.  While my main love and focus will still be on the edibles, I’m excited to grow a lot more flowers for cutting this year – starting with lots of zinnias and my beloved dahlias.

So hey, since I’ve finally got gardening back on my mind – let’s chat garden!  Started planning for spring planting yet?  What do you plan to grow or not grow this year?
