butter is good

June 10, 2011

I’ll be posting a lot about the food that comes out of the garden including some relatively healthy recipes on how to prepare a tasty dish.  One thing I will not be doing is trying to ‘health up’ sweets/desserts/etc.   I’m a believer in real food and if I’m gonna eat a piece of cake or pie I prefer it to be made with real butter, real sugar and all the other real…but maybe not so healthy ingredients.  I prefer not to deprive myself of such yummy goodness baked goods and just try portion control instead (though that’s not always the easiest either!).

I made these cupcakes awhile back for my mom’s birthday.  Got to say they were pretty tasty, as is expected coming from Pioneer Woman

I used this recipe: The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever and decided to go for cupcakes and added dark chocolate cocoa powder for a deeper flavor.

Then I made this frosting: That’s The Best Frosting I’ve Ever Had

Finished them off with a quick piping of frosting and topped with a cute little viola flower.  The flower made the cupcake a little more elegant looking, which seemed more appropriate for my mom rather than sprinkles.

The results were good.  Real good.  Classic moist dark-chocolatey cupcake with the most creamy, just-the-right-amount of sweetness frosting.  If you’re like me and not crazy about the traditional icing that gets a bit crusty and is very sweet, then this is your frosting.

So next time you want chocolate cake, skip the box and try this.  You will not be disappointed.

Life in Green would love to hear from you...
